Relaxation Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is what normally comes to mind when people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension. In fact, research published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, shows that receiving a Swedish Massage decreased levels of the stress hormone cortisol and amped-up levels of a vital player in the body’s immune system, white blood cells. Researchers found that compared to just a light-touch massage, study participants who underwent the Swedish massage twice a week experienced decreases in cortisol levels, increased oxytocin levels (also known as the “trust hormone”), and slight evidence of increased white blood cell counts. They also experienced decreased levels of the hormone arginine vasopressin, which is linked with cortisol increases.  This massage is done with you dressed down to your comfort level. However, regardless of the level of dress, you are always professionally draped to maintain your privacy and dignity.
